The History G.A.D Khalsa Sports Football Club has gained an excellent reputation as ambassadors for Derby and the surrounding Derbyshire area, having played in the various local leages for some 11 years.
The club currently runs three senior teams, one on Saturdays and two on Sundays. The club membership both past and present currently stands at 100.
The season 1998/99 & 1999/00 has seen yet another milestone in the clubs illustrious history. The Sunday first team won the Derby City Premier League for the first time becoming the first asian side to win the championship in the league's 21 year history for the second consecutive season. Also to complete a good couple of seasons the Reserve team became runners-up in the Senior Division on both occasions. And the Junior side came third in the league and runners-up in the cup in their first season.
After the sucess of winning the league the first team has gained entry into the Central Midlands League Premier Division, which is a semi professional leaugue. This achievement has largely been down to the ambitions of a number of senior club memebers who have seen their dream of taking the club into higher leagues, who knows there wishes of a professional status may one day be realised.
The club is constantly striving to strengthen all of its squads and requires good quality players of all ages, especially for the junior teams.
Over the years the club has enjoyed great sucess locally with numberous cup wins and league championships in recent years and throughout the summer the club participates in tournaments all over the country (organised by the Khalsa Football Federation). In one season or another the club has won many tournaments and is well respected within these circuits.
In the future we plan to develop standards of excellence amongst our membership and the local community, by providing facilities, personal support and the development for local youths. The youngsters involved will benefit greatly where they are taught discipline and exert their energy and time in something that is rewarding and thereby anhances their self-belief.
The club is funded with support from its parent body, Shri Guru Arjan Dev Gurdwara (Derby), local businesses and donations from the community and from the club membership.
